Cannabis Clinics Host

LA-WEHO Townhall Meeting August 30

Ten West Hollywood-Los Angeles area medical Cannabis clinics will host a townhall meeting, dinner and gelato-tasting Thursday night, August 30, 2007 at Plummer Park to update residents and stakeholders on “Medical Cannabis in the News and in our Neighborhoods,” announced Richard Kearns Monday night during a Brown Act poetry reading before the West Hollywood City Council. AIDS activist Kearns is poet-secretary of the Patient Advocacy Network (PAN), a medical cannabis educational non-profit public benefit corporation.

“We want to catch up our prop-215-supporting non-patient allies with the roller coaster ride of events we’ve been going through” said Kearns. “You can’t figure out what’s happening just by following the LA Times’ non-coverage. We aim to focus on our activities as a social justice movement in the context of across-the-board national and international public health policy conflicts between ideology and science. We aim to take a look at the issue of state vs. federal jurisdiction in matters of grassroots social change.”

Kearns says the comments and discussion will be videorecorded, transcribed and posted at http://cannabispatientvoice.blogspot.com where information from this townhall meeting can be used as “resource” material for other townhalls and neighborhood council meetings throughout los angeles county later in the year.

Kearns expects to release a list of panel members early next week.
